Just came back from this Carnival cruise to St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, Aruba and San Juan (home port.) Must say that for a hard to satisfy New Yorker I was generally satisfied. Major positives include excellent service, good casino, good port of calls and good enough food. Entertainment was weak. Weak points include air sea snafu ( don't use Carnival's air sea. They will put you on the worst possible flight including a 6:00AM departure with a stop over and inadequate time to get to your connection.) Second problem, don't book Veranda floor (floor 8). Way too noisy due to much of the action occurring on Lido deck 9 and staff who get a thrill out of dragging lounge chairs on deck 9 beginning as early as 5:00AM each morning. Last problem was dysfunctional door locks which are always blamed on the way you are holding your key until maintenance comes up and determine that the door batteries are nearly dead. Several of our friends experienced similar problems w the doors. Nevertheless, this trip was a positive experience. Spa was also very nice. If you want to book the spa on the days at sea (2 of them) book in advance.

Our excursions included; Whale watching in Dominica -highly recommend it. Coci Beach in St. Thomas - taxi ride, not an excursion. Also very nice beach with good snorkeling but a bit crowded. Boatyard beach in Barbados - over-priced $16 per person includes chair with Umbrella, which was not available and banana boat ride which was closed when we arrived and a free drink. In Aruba we went shopping and then on an excursion to a private island for Snuba. Most people sign up for snorkeling. The excursion includes unlimited snorkeling, free food and drinks at restaurant, bathroom facilities and transportation. service other than snuba was poor, but the Snua experience was terrific and was the highlight of my son's cruise. For an extra $30 we received a CD and pictures of our Snuba experience. Hope this review helps future travelers.
