We returned home from a cruise on the Liberty 01-21-06 and our experience was such that I must write. Having been on 4 other Carnival cruises this was by far the most disappointing vacation we have ever taken. The problems we encountered are.

Not enough open deck space to accommodate the passenger load. All available deck chairs taken by 10:00 AM most with just towels or shoes on them to hold for later use.

Dining room dress code was nowhere near being enforced. Shorts and sandals at dinner? Jeans and T-shirts for formal night? This really took the ambiance we were used to on other Carnival cruises to very low level.

Our tour in Grand Cayman was quite an unpleasant experience. We took the beach club tour and were met with poor facilities and rude staff. We left quite early and took a cab back to town to do some shopping but were met with a sea of people. Where is the wisdom in choosing a port of call that 4 other ships are using the same day?

Freeport was as the Bahamas can only be. My only complaint there was the cab ride but feel the Bahamas should be dropped by Carnival on any 6 or more day cruise.

Costa Maya held the most promise but due to adverse weather we were forced to return from our tour early and I in no way fault Carnival or the ships captain for that and we were reimbursed for the tour plus $25.00 each and we appreciate that.

Entertainment was another disappointment. A guest talent show for evening entertainment is not my idea of a “Vegas style show” One midnight comedian and one PG comedian the next night by the same performer. Where did the midnight comedians go? Where did the midnight buffets go? Yes there was one but nothing like cruises past. Where did the singing and dancing dining room staff go? What about the different country theme night?

I have always recommended Carnival Cruise Lines in the past but will be hesitant to do so again and will defiantly not suggest any cruise on a Mega Ship as the personal cruise experience is gone.
