Sailing Date: November 3rd, 2003
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

This cruise was to celebrate my parents 50th Anniversary. They had 12 kids so it took over a year to plan the whole thing so its not hard to get expectations up in that time.

We had 27 people in our group and most everyone had a good time.

The rooms are very nice. The size was bigger than I though it would be (we were on the Empress deck) and the bathroom not airplane size which is what I expected.

CONS: Unless you are a major soft drink person or have teenagers I would not advise buying the soft drink card. The price is $26.00 and what they don't tell you when you buy it is that you can't get a soda until 9am at the bars. Well I am a first in the morning caffeine person and 2 of those days by 9am you are off the ship on an excursion.
I thought there could have been more free activities for people that don't gamble to do.

Pros: The sunset and sunrise is a must. Everyone goes on a cruise for different reasons but I was up and out by 6am every morning and to me that was the best time. Eating at the dining room was very nice. We have 3 kids and don't get to dress up and go out and eat much so I did that as often as I could. The waiter was great and there was good food.

EXCURSIONS: We did the Catamaran at Cozumel and enjoyed it. If you want to snorkel and drink and dance on a boat then this is the trip.

Calica/Playa De Carmen we decided not to do the excursion and find a beach on our own. There were people standing outside the ramp trying to sell you somewhere to go that weren't part of the excursion. We went to Playa Tukan which was a very nice beach with lounge chairs/umbrellas. For $20 we got a ride to and from the ship, a free drink, and entrance to the beach. The drinks were cheap..$2 for a beer and you could order food and have it delivered to your chair. We also snorkeled from there for $20 and I thought it was better than at Cozumel.

The Broadway show was really neat we enjoyed it a lot. I only went to one but heard the others were good too.

All in all I will go on a cruise again maybe try a different ship a newer one but we enjoyed it.

Oh, by the way there was movement on the boat and I think that should be expected. We slept like babies with the little humming it did. I did hear that some people down on the bottom decks thought it vibrated too much but if you get on the top 3 decks you shouldn't have a problem at all.

Wait until the last day if you are wanting to buy something on the ship. Sale prices you know.
