We’ve just returned from a wonderful cruise of the Western Caribbean aboard the Carnival “Ecstasy“.

We decided to go on this five day cruise because it was all the time we could be away from our business.  So we flew down to Texas. We also decided to fly in one day before our cruise departure.

We had a transfer service pick up at the Holiday Inn near Bush Airport in Houston and drive us to Galveston. It takes an hour and hour to drive to Galveston from near the big airport.  We boarded the “Ecstasy” at 1 pm, had no problems with the check-in.  We all had lunch at their great buffet that was ready when we boarded.  An hour and half later we were in our cabins for a bit of unpacking.  We had planned on being on the balcony of our cabin when the ship left the port, put that didn’t happen.  A large thunder-storm settled over Galveston and dropped a great deal of rain. So we took a nap, so we could be rested for a late dinner and dancing and exploring the ship.

The Ecstasy is really a fun ship. We enjoyed City Light Blvd. which lead us to all the different Bars and Grills and Club.  We really enjoyed Chinatown the dance club.  On our second night out we enjoyed a great Vegas revue complete with wonderful costumes, exciting lighting effects and pyrotechnics in the Ecstasy’s Blue Sapphire Lounge.

On other nights we visited the casino after dinner.

On the stops in Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico, we took walking tours and has lunch and drinks in the local establishments. The weather was great there.

Our five day cruise was all to short.  On Thursday when we return to Galveston, we disembarked at 10:00 am and our disembarkation went smoothly, and our driver was awaiting us at curbside.

Galveston is an island city,  architecture is strictly New Orleans or Key West style.  The grand Victoria homes, the wonderful architecture of the downtown buildings built in the 1880’s.  Being able to see this was really a wonderful experience.
