Number of Cruises: 1
Cruise Line: Carnival
Ship: Fascination
Sailing Date: November 10th, 2003
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

We left on Monday Nov 10th,2003 expecting a wonderful 5 day, 4 night cruise. My husband and I were very excited. We left Miami around 4pm. It had started to rain a bit, but it stopped very quickly. We were on our way! The next day we stopped in Key West, we got there at 8am. It was beautiful. We took the bus to town and stopped in the shops, it was very nice, but we had to be back on the ship by 1:30pm. That was ok, it gave us enough time to take a short nap and get ready for our formal dinner in the evening. They had a Captain's cocktail party prior to dinner. We found out that we wouldn't be able to dock in Cozumel until 3pm , instead of 12n. While we were at dinner we were notified that the ship was having engine trouble so we had to change course and we would be going to Freeport, Bahamas. We paid for a trip to Cozumel and received a trip to Freeport. Freeport had dirty beaches and women chasing you down the street trying to braid your hair. I called carnival cruise lines and complained and I was told they have the right to change the itinerary. No compensation was offered. Once you are on the ship you are locked into to being "nickeled and dimed". Everything has a 15% gratuity. The food was ok. There was just a lot of it. If I bought a Cadillac, the dealer could not just replace it with a Volkswagon, because it had engine trouble, and not refund my money. I guess Carnival Cruise line can do what ever they want once they have you on board, and not compensate you. I do have to say the highlight of the trip was sitting in the 88 piano bar listening to Michael play the piano and sing.
