Just got back from the 3-day weekend cruise from Long Beach to Ensenada. First,
I will say that the Paradise is a beautiful ship. The detail and decor are
superb. Unfortunately for us the "reputation" of Carnival being a party cruise
with a lot of drunks was more than accurate. Drinking without reason and care is
rampant. I know this is where Carnival brings in huge profits, so I doubt this
will change. From the moment we got on board the cruise director was saying
"party, party, party, drink, drink, ..." We saw cruisers barely able to walk in
the Paris dining room every day, needless to say many of those intoxicated were
also are vulgar and loud. Okay my values obviously don't match with Carnival's
so my mistake for picking the wrong cruise line. Please if you have kids don't
take this cruise. Also, having taken another cruise on another cruise line, I
know that not all "ship environments" are this bad. It was interesting that the
cruise director said that the Paradise was ranked #2 out of the Carnival ships -
if this is true I'll never cruise Carnival again. He then begged us to turn in
our comment cards to him... no thanks I'll send mine directly to the corporate
office. Enough of that.
ELATION Dining: Overall the food was gross. The last evening was the best. Our
waiters were super and the company at our table was awesome.
PARIS buffet dining: Breakfast was not good. Have the guy make you a fresh
omelet. Also for lunch the grilled sandwiches near the back were great... the
pizza was pretty good as well.
PHOTOGRAPHY: Pretty good, you'll be happy with the pictures.
On the cruise I met someone who said he has gone on both the Carnival Paradise
and the RC Monarch of the Seas many, many times. He said the RC-Monarch is much
better.
Well, that's it, if you like excess drinking, vulgarity, and sticky floors this
cruise is for you.
