It is virtually impossible to have a bad time on a cruise. We
had a blast and love cruising. With that said, I would grade RCLL as a "fair"
cruise line.
The ship was the most beautiful ship I have ever seen! Spectacular! The ship was
gorgeous and had a nice "adults only" pool that was fantastic!
The food was not so hot and very tasteless. I remember the good old days where
waiters wore white gloves, and everything right down to the salad dressing, was
homemade. You don't get that on RCLL. The steak was cooked to death and tough as
leather! The pasta dishes had no flavor at all and the desserts lacked flavor as
well.
The ports of call were great but I did not like Aruba. We went to a "famous"
beach but the whole place stunk like raw sewerage. When we asked about the smell
we were told that the hotel on the beach had a septic tank "issue" that had not
been fixed. We had to leave the beach early because it smelled so badly. Also, I
found Aruba to be kind of dirty, the streets were littered with garbage and
there were bad smells.
Getting off the ship was a pain! You had to be out of your cabin by 8am, on
Celebrity and Carnival we were allowed to remain in the cabin until at least 10!
The line to get off the ship was very long and very discombobulated! No signs,
no directions or anything! It was bedlam and took over 4 hours! Several people
wound up missing flights because it was such a mess!
Overall RCLL is a good value. You will definately have fun! However, if you are
used to luxury cruising you will NOT find that here. You are one of almost 4000
people and you don't get any "special touches" like you would on Celebrity or
another pricier line. I can tell you, the price is right, the ship is gorgeous
and with the right mindset you will have a great time!
