Age: 58
Occupation: Architect
Number of Cruises: 2
Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas
Sailing Date: March 1st, 2004
Itinerary: Western Caribbean
LEAVING PORT: Handled very nicely, helpful people, no problems at all
KEY WEST: Lots to see and do, most everything within a short, pleasant
walk from the dock. The usual run of souvenir and t-shirt shops plus a lot more.
Take the on-off trolley tour, stop at whatever interests you, get back on again.
COZUMEL: OK, nothing special. Some of the excursions were OK, but be
careful of the watersports - seas were very rough and choppy, snorkeling quite
difficult.
BELIZE: Royal Caribbean should think about a different port. There wasn't
much here and the excursions were mostly too long.
THE SHIP: Is now 7 years old, just starting to show its' age. Clean, easy
to get around, many diversions.
THE CREW: Absolutely wonderful, well trained, helpful, excellent
attitudes.
DIVERSIONS ON BOARD: Many and varied. Casino is larger and more diverse
than expected. Onboard shopping just OK, not too much available. Shows every
night were much fun, singers and dancers worked hard to entertain us - but the
talent level is about what you might expect on a cruise - OK, nothing
extraordinary. Disco is quite lively. Piano bar is quite pleasant. Lots of
physical activities available. Pools and whirlpools very nice. They have
audience participation games almost all the time. If you don't want to take any
shore excursions, you can stay onboard - there's plenty happening.
THE PASSENGERS: Thankfully, not many children. Crowd was mostly younger,
quite lively.
THE FOOD: All you want, but nothing exceptional. Ranged from fair (at the
hamburger/hot dog bar) to very good (breakfast buffet). There are two midnight
buffets, limited assortment. You'll eat a lot! Here's a hint (they won't tell
you about this): Buy an unlimited soft drink sticker for $30 - otherwise, it's
$1.50 per soda - and you can use it for everyone in your party.
VALUE: Very good, except for the excursions which seemd overpriced. You
don't have to sign up onboard - at each port, there are "hawkers" selling
similar local experiences at much lower cost.
OVERALL: Very pleased, we would do it again.
