I love reading reviews from others on this ship. One of the recent ones praised the size of the ship, staterooms, etc. The fact that they hadn't cruised in 12 years says allot. On this ship, yes, the staterooms were the average size, but the bathroom was smaller than I have experienced in the past. The shower curtain would get sprayed by the water and push it out, so that the water would end up on the floor of the bathroom and not stay in the shower. BIG flaw!

The food was average for Royal, which is good for the most part. The food service in the Solarium was slow. There was a line quite often, and food by the pool in the Solarium was actually a little weird. The Windjammer was always crowded for breakfast, and it seemed like they condensed the service from two to one station during lunch a little sooner than would have been convenient.

The recent "stretching" of this ship actually made the pool deck look huge. I loved the bar under the "bridge" on the pool deck. VERY cool. The lounge "Boleros" was very nice. The theater was also beautiful.

Speaking of the theater, the shows were not up to the quality that we expected. The actual "shows" seemed a little less than inspired, which is unusual for RC shows. The comedian was very good, and we saw him often on the ship. The jugglers were ok, but the other guy, a vocal impressionist, was pathetic. This show was funny 20 years ago, but is dated by today's standards. His jokes were funny, but his impressions were weak at best.

We live in Florida and have been to the Keys allot, so we didn't bother. If you've never been, don't bother with an excursion. Just walk around. Maps are everywhere, so it's pretty hard to get lost.

We didn't get the chance to go to Cozumel as our excursion was in Playa Del Carmen. If you like ruins, DON'T go on the Muyil tour. There's not that much to see.

Having said that, if you like ruins, you MUST do the Cahal Pech ruins in Belize. Absolutely fantastic, though the ride is quite long, it is well worth it.

Reading another previous review lends me to comment on the downside of the cruise. Don't take a one-year-old on a cruise! Why would you? Simply insane. On this cruise there were LOTS of kids, several of them obviously NOT brought up the way I was. Ill-mannered, rude, and completely void of manners and respect. Then again, lots of the parents were the same way. And speaking of respect, how about respect for the rules? If it says "no shorts in the dining room," it doesn't mean maybe. But I hold RC responsible for not enforcing the rule themselves. Too many kids on this cruise for us, but it is vacation season.

RC is ok, and we'll cruise them again, but next time it's back to Celebrity.
