This was our second cruise on Grandeur and with RCCL. We traveled with my
parents, sister, and her boyfriend and were able to get dining and rooms
together without any problem. We found the staff to be friendly and most
helpful. Examples: Our safe's batteries were dead and our room steward brought
maintenance up right away. Another example was when our phone went dead, they
had another maintenance man in there in about 15 minutes. The only
disappointment on this trip was the tour in Grand Bahamas Island, but even then
RCCL came through for us. It was the 3.5 hour "Highlights, Shopping, and Beach"
tour. When we boarded the bus, the driver took us on a 1.5 hour tour of all of
the subsidized housing where he honked the horn at his buddies and waved. The
description advertised going to Port Lucaya, the International Bazaar, and
Tranquility Shores. When we got to Port Lucaya, after learning that we had an
hour there to shop, we asked about the International Bazaar (our main reason for
signing up for the tour) and were told it was destroyed in the hurricane.
Because of the misleading description and the lack of a tour, we filed a
complaint with RCCL and got a 50% refund.
The rest of the trip was smooth sailing, until the end on the last night where
an engine broke. My husband and I were thrilled...more time on the boat! Others
were a bit irritated.
Our waiters were terrific. Vladimir had 3 or 4 tables, one of them with about 10
children. He managed to make all of us feel as though we were his top priority
while keeping the little ones entertained with his sense of humor nd magic
tricks. GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE!
The food was always delicious and we were able to sample items on the menu we
had never tried before (I LOVE to cook and we had a chef in our group as well).
There was a variety each night to please even the most discerning palates.
The entertainment was fun and plentiful. Dance lessons of different genres were
offered throughout the week, the most fun being the line dancing the first day
out at sea with an especially rocky boat! There was Karaoke, Rock-i-oke, games,
arts and crafts, wine tastings, demonstrations, basically something for
everyone. Parking yourself on a lounge chair with a mango tango was a relaxing
option as well. All in all it was a fantastic cruise and we would love to sail
on Grandeur a third time. Keep up the good work, RCCL staff!
