Jewel of the Seas Cruise Review

J. Alimo

Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean
Ship: Jewel of the Seas
Sailing Date: December 26th, 2004
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

The Jewel is an attractive ship, but there is little substance to her shell. Loud music from various venues permeated the ship into the late-night hours, disrupting sleep for many guests. The food, although of great variety, was routinely mediocre. The service ranged from excellent (dinner and cabin service) to downright offensive and obnoxious (e.g., front desk). The shore excursion staff knew little about the upcoming excursions. Unsupervised children regularly disrupted adults, even in adult-only areas, prompting a stern but unheeded loud-speaker warning to parents from the captain. Complaints during, and after, the cruise were essentially disregarded by staff and management. In short, there's absolutely no reason to travel on this particular ship and many reasons to avoid doing so.
