Legend of the Seas Cruise Review

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line
Legend of the Seas
7 Day Western Caribbean

Debbie Estes
Age: 40
Occupation: Account Executive
Number of Cruises: 16
Sailing Date: November 26th, 2005

The boarding of this ship was great as I am a "platinum" member. I was onboard the ship in approx 15 min. When approaching the ship I was disappointed at the rust on the hull of the ship as I had bragged to the other members of my party as to how well kept the Royal Caribbean line was. I had been on numerous other Royal Caribbean ships and was very pleased with the service and presentation of the whole experience from the ship itself to the food. Even though this vessel had underwent refurbishment in 2005, the fabrics, carpet, bedding and walls was very "worn". The food in the dining room was well presented but the taste was bland. The service was "rushed" and therefore the whole dinner experience was bad. The windjammer on every occasion had slippery floors. The second night on board, my brother fell and dislocated his knee. The doctor onboard would not come to the room, we had to get him down seven floors to them. The first port, which was Cayman Islands we spent at the hospital. The crew was not helpful at all. We had to pay the hospital for their services ( which can really hurt if you don't have a credit card) and then we got a bill for the doctor services which was $528. USD. The hospital was full of cruise ship patients which surprised me. As many times as I had been on cruises I had never heard of this. We were told that if we were not back on the ship by 4.30 pm that the ship would leave! So we would not let the hospital repair his leg due to the rush to get back to the ship. The ports were great. I love Costa Maya! Cozumel had been hit with hurricane Wilma (cat 5) hurricane and was badly damaged, but the cruise lines were helping with the refurbishment to the shops, but the port was completely destroyed.

The one thing that really disappointed me was the Loyalty Ambassador. This is the crewmember in charge of returning guests. She was very rude. She was not even present at the deportation. Needless to say, my whole experience was bad. I was embarrassed as I had bragged so much about what a great cruise line this was and Legend had let me down. I will travel again with RCCL but never again on Legend of the seas.
