We had such a
wonderful time on the Legend of the Seas cruise that I felt it was worth posting
this review. We cruised out of Southampton on the 24th of September 2005
And I am posting this review late December 05, so I have had plenty of time to
reflect on the whole experience. I can’t fault it and have booked again for the
same cruise in Sept 06.
We travelled down by train from Scotland the day before departure and stayed in
a hotel near the docks. We had booked the cruise with my sister in law and her
husband who live in Milton Keynes. We met up with them in Southampton.
On the day of departure we had breakfast and we were at the docks by 11:00 am.
As soon as our taxi had stopped a porter collected our cases, didn’t see them
again until we got to our cabin after we had sailed. Check in was underway and
we joined a short queue. It took only a few minutes to check in as we had
completed the online embarkation forms.
Once on board
we explored the ship, and although I had read many reviews of this ship before
and after our cruise that said the ship looked it’s age, we could find no faults
and in fact she was so bright and clean that we thought she looked brand new, a
credit to the staff and crew who do such a great job keeping her in such good
order.
We soon found our way to the Viking crown lounge and were greeted by Albert the
head barman, we stayed there for a few drinks and watched our departure from the
deck just outside. Albert made us feel most welcome from the minute we entered
the lounge and during the rest of the cruise, as did all of the staff onboard,
they could not have been more helpful, again a credit to RCI.
Throughout the
2 weeks we were delighted with the high standard of comfort and service
provided, the daily communications from the captain became a point of interest
as he always kept the passengers fully informed of where we were, what was
happening, and why, always injecting humour to the daily announcements.
We disembarked at each of the ports of call but did not always go on the
excursions, we wanted some time on our own to sample the local people and
produce, yet again RCI came through, all ports of call were excellent. We did
take a couple of guided tours, Rome, Lisbon, & Barcelona, and on each of the
tours RCI had selected top guides.
I would rate the ship 10 out of 10
I would rate the crew the food and the service 10 out of 10
I would rate the cruise overall 10 out of 10
As stated above we enjoyed it so much we are going back next year, can’t wait.
If you were thinking of cruising RCI, I would say take the plunge you will love
it.
