Ship: Majesty of the Seas
Sailing Date: May 9th, 2005
Itinerary: Bahamas

It was my 34th birthday present and my husband and I took our 4 year old son. We arrived early on departure day and checked in and got to our inside stateroom on the 5th floor. We had our carry on bags to unpack and we didn't receive the rest of our luggage which isn't unusual until later after dinner. It was advised to pack bathing suits, change of clothes, medications, etc. so I am very thankful that I read reviews beforehand and did so. We went to eat at the Windjammer Cafe on the 11th deck and checked out the pool (both saltwater). The food was fabulous always and the pool water was very clean (they drain and clean and refill the pools nightly) always cold though...the temperature on our trip was always low 80's and sunny but the water I thought was freezing.

Staff were fantastic. I had a feeling that I would get sea sick and I did get very dizzy with the ship swaying so much...I hear it wasn't too bad from other guests but for me personally-I am still having vertigo and we came home yesterday morning. The ports were very nice but we didn't take too much in the way of excursions because our 4 year old didn't like to walk much and in fact fell asleep in my arms as soon as we walked off the ship so we didn't see much of Nassau except for some of the shops when we got off. Coco Cay was beautiful and the water is pretty blue but alot of seaweed and the sand is white but muddy. They had a wonderful Bar B Q meal and it was very nice but watch out for the seagulls-they fly all around the picnic tables. It was so funny-one couple had set there food on a table beside us and the husband went to get beverages while the wife was eating and about 3 birds just came down and ate his whole plate of food...funny!

There are so many nationalities on board the ship. The staff is from all over the world-hard to understand most of their English but all very wonderful people. The water was very calm most of the time and I felt the boat rock so if the weather is bad or water is actually rough...I would have been catching a plane ride out of there...I did take some Dramamine but it didn't really work. They have an EXCELLENT children's program that my son loved going to and the staff there again was so friendly and great. He is a shy boy most of the time who don't really like to go anywhere without me but wanted to go there every day and they have activities all day long and evening too if you want your child to stay after 10pm (which we didn't) you can take advantage of 5 dollars an hour paid in cash. Otherwise all activities were included. If you worry about gaining weight on the ship- YOU WILL.

They do have a very nice fitness area that my husband used everyday and said it was great but he also gained 7 pounds! Amazing 4 nights and such great food at all hours. Key West has a lot of shops and fun things to do. My best advice for this cruise is to plan an excursion in Miami early if you have a later flight which we did...spent 6 1/2 hours waiting to catch our plane. That was the worst thing other than the sea sickness. I definately felt it in our stateroom which was so tiny! My husband is 6'4" and with our Pullman bed down...you couldn't even move. No one normally stays in their rooms much so it wouldn't really matter unless you are like myself with a child who both need naps :)

The casino was very fun, a lot of nice slot machines...my favorite being Quarterama in the middle of the casino which had a progressive jackpot that I thought for sure I was going to win! I played for 3 hours on 20 dollars....was doing pretty good until I had ordered one too many drinks and couldn't hold it anymore so had to cash out and find a restroom....broke my luck! Shops on board very nice. I don't recommend the beverage pass because for 27.00-you can't drink that much soda unless that is all you drink. I had specialty drinks and all the ice tea, water, lemonade, coffee is included. Orange juice is also provided with meals. Milk is provided with meals so unless you drink that much soda-it was a waste and if you wait to purchase that pass on the second day-you are charged for the whole time.

There is so much to do onboard but we just really didn't get too involved which I regret but they lay out a days itinerary every night when they make your room (twice a day) I could probably go on and on....another stupid thing I did was lose my video camera...was carrying it around my shoulder and hung it on the restroom hook where you put your purse and left it there...went up to get my son and remembered I left it there and went to get it and it was gone. I checked many times at the Pursers Desk and it was never returned. That hindered my whole trip...but all in all it was a good experience even though I am still rocking back and forth! Have fun because it is a nice ship and they are always cleaning it.
