Navigator of the Seas Cruise Review

Ron Stevens

Age: 49
Occupation: Sales & Marketing
Number of Cruises: 7
Cruise Line: Royal Caribbean
Ship: Navigator of the Seas
Sailing Date: December 27th, 2003
Itinerary: Western Caribbean

Ship is absolutely beautiful. From skating rink to basketball court to 18 hole miniature golf course, it has it all. Plenty of activities on board to keep everyone going. We did the Western Caribbean, including the Labadee, Haiti stop (turned out to be the best stop of all!!). Due to rough seas, the diving and parasailing were cancelled in Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Cozumel. We did the jet skiing in Labadee (that is where the picture Royal Caribbean uses in their "Get out There" ads.) Although rough (6 to 8 foot waves) we had a blast.

Food on board is as good as we have had on a number of Carnival and Celebrity ships. 3 Tier dining room gives a lot of tables great views. Formal dining room was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Also had a super buffet on the 11th deck for all nmeals AND there is a 24 hour cafe in the promenade area (5th deck).

Casino is heavy slanted to one arm bandits. Only 1 craps table and I got shut out of playing a number of times due to crowd.

Did not take the ship sponsored land tours and saved a bundle. Cabs were readily available at all ports to take you to the places you really wanted to see. Highly recommend Dunns River Falls in Jamaica. Only paid $5 per person to get a cab there ($10 admission at the Falls), while fellow passengers paid over $50 to do the Falls and one other stop.

Two nights were formal and many men did rent tux's (on board), but most had suits.

New Years Eve was the best. Huge party in the Promenade. Free champagne. Many people were good and trashed come 12:00 o'clock. There is an English tavern (poets Club) that has the best glass of Bass Ale you can find. We partied very harty that night and lots of free shots, beer, and champagne were given out. We paid a tidy sum to be on board this week, so free booze was a pretty classy act for this night.

Midnight Buffet is true to form. Only available on Thursday night, but they had a good party on Tuesday night with lots of Corona beer (buy 2 bottles, get 5). I did have a lot of problems signing on in the internet center. They should have someone there to assist as many people were disenfranchised with this computer network.

There was so much available to do, I never made it to the Sports bar, something I never miss. I understand they had some pools going on a number of games. Don't miss out like I did.

They have the Karaoke stuff, but the gal that ran it was not up to the challenge. The Carnival Legend was not to be outdone concerning Karaoke.

Anyway, this ship is by far the best I have had the pleasure sailing on. Many ports has numerous ships in and I spoke to a number of passengers on them and seasickness was definitely prevalent. NOT ON THE NAVIGATOR. Once in a while you could feel some rocking, but smooth sailing in some pretty rough seas.
